Acrylic Paint on Paper

Ragged clothes with worn patches hang on lines out to dry. A dilapidated shack is what he calls home. A cot made of beaten cotton takes his slumber hostage. The paths of dirt he walks on cripples his wishes of going beyond the trails left before him. He attempts to run faster, walk longer, and go further. Yet he can’t seem to make it through the gravel filled pillars of broken dreams. All he stands to inherit is his parents’ yearning for better. Hand-me-down dreams given to a boy who hopes of one day being free from his despair.
